A treasure on a walk

Rome and I were taking an evening walk around the neighborhood a few days ago and stumbled upon a great find! As soon as I spotted it I knew I could strip the paint off and re-stain it to create a gorgeous piece for our future home. It has been no easy task, and it is by no means finished, but I'm halfway there! (At least I hope I am... Dad has promised to stop by and evaluate the situation later today...) Yesterday I spent hours out in the driveway, bedecked in fluorescent orange rubber gloves and some pretty sweet safety goggles, stripping away bright red, blue and yellow paint from the beautiful oak chest of drawers. I survived a few minor (but quite painful!) chemical burns from the hazardous stripping mixture over the course of the day, but it was well worth it. I have gotten all the alarmingly bright paint off of the piece and now just need to take care of the stubborn bits that refuse to be removed. Here are "before" and "halfway" photos of my first furniture restoring project!
