We have our own place! Our family has landed! Tashi (Our super little silver honda Civic) was QUITE heavy laden as we started out on our 10hr drive from Rochester to our new home in Virginia. But she made it! No sweat.
Yes, yes, Rome and I have a sweet little second floor, two bedroom apartment about 15 min outside the lovely city of Lynchburg. It's so cool to look around and see the hazy mountains surrounding us in various shades of blue, green and purple. We're in a valley, and it's absolutely terrifying driving through the snake-like coils of narrow road that bring us through the mountains into Lynchburg. Terrifying, yet so beautiful. There are surprise bridges and rivers and then the breath-taking clearings, offering a quick flash of sky and tree and the occasional eagle or hawk. The beauty somewhat cancels out the terror of coming around a sharp bend to be faced with a large and very fast-moving vehicle driving more in the center of the road than on the proper side... but only somewhat...
But here we are! Alive, well mostly. No thanks to this HEAT WAVE Virginia has embraced lately...
We've made numerous stops at local thrift stores and have even dabbled in the Saturday morning pastime of garage saling (Sale-ing?). Good times! Although, apparently here in the "state for lovers" Saturday morning garage sales must be visited between 7am and noon, cause come twelve o clock these people are packing up! Luckily we found a few open AFTER noon and got a sweet mirror with a farmer and some animals on it. Can't wait till next Saturday!
After the garage sales we went to the Lynchburg Farmers Market (some kids had switched the sign around to say 2-7 instead of 7-2 so we got there just in time to see all the "farmers" packing up. Oh just WAIT till next week! We'll be ready...
